QestOnline uses a type of collaborative, user-driven database called a Wiki. The Wiki project is maintained by the project contributors and administrators at MediaWiki. The most well-known Wiki is the collaborative online encyclopaedia, Wikipedia.

The Wiki uses several features of many of the popular languages that are used on the Web; including XHTML, CSS, and PHP. These languages are extremely widely used and are supported by all major graphical web browsers. However, because their specifications are reccommended guidelines only, they are not enforced. Additionally, those who write the specifications are usually not the same people who design and create the web browsers that implement them. Because of this, different web browsers will render a given page slightly differently.
